ABOUT

Jorge Marroquin
Founder | Chief Engineer
Sacramento, California, USA
A first-generation Salvadoran American born in Redwood City, California, Jorge Marroquin’s journey into music began in 5th grade with an alto saxophone and a growing curiosity for sound. Classically and jazz trained through college, he played in symphonic and studio jazz ensembles, studied classical piano, and taught himself guitar during middle school lunch breaks. By 2004, he had formed a pop punk band where he played rhythm guitar, sang backup, and co-wrote and produced all the songs—uncovering what would become a lifelong passion for music production and engineering.

In 2010, he crossed paths with hitmaker Brian Alexander Morgan (SWV, Usher, Mariah Carey), who soon hired him as his personal engineer. This led to a move to Los Angeles, where the two collaborated on projects for artists like Faith Evans, Tamar Braxton, Jill Scott, and Muni Long to name a few. The hands-on industry experience proved foundational.

One of his most notable engineering contributions came years later, when a stripped-down demo originally created for Justin Bieber found its way to Noah “40” Shebib. That sample became the backbone of “9,” the second track on Drake’s Views album, produced by 40, Boi-1da, and Brian Alexander Morgan. The GRAMMY-nominated record has since gone 8x platinum, with the track standing out as a milestone in his career.

Back in Northern California, he co-founded Fvders Music Group with longtime collaborator Tatum Martin. The duo went on to produce records for PARTYNEXTDOOR, Roy Woods, Reason, and YFL Kelvin, among others. In 2018, YFL Kelvin signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Def Jam after completing his album "Outta Here", featuring seven tracks produced by The Fvders. The lead single, “Nasdaq,” was originally produced by the team and later remixed to include a feature from Moneybagg Yo.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, a new chapter began. With newborn twin daughters and facing sudden unemployment, he pivoted fully into remote engineering. Out of necessity—and driven by a relentless work ethic—J3M Sound was born, a business rooted in creative partnership, empathy, and high-level audio craftsmanship.

Today, he remains focused on providing exceptional music services while building meaningful relationships with artists worldwide. Whether producing from scratch or polishing a final master, his approach remains hands-on, intentional, and personal.

Through every twist and challenge, one principle has remained constant: Keep going. There was never a backup plan—only the will to build something lasting through persistence, skill, and heart.
“Opportunity can benefit no man who has not fitted himself to seize it and use it... Prepare yourself to grasp opportunity, and opportunity is likely to come your way.”
— B.C. Forbes
